According to a report in the ECO newspaper, the South Korean Ambassador to Portugal, Cho Yeongmoo, expects South Korean companies to invest in semiconductors (chips) and renewable energy in Portugal this year, namely in Aveiro.
In November last year, SK Hynix, a semiconductor production company, signed a memorandum with aicep Portugal Global, when AICEP announced that the agreement aimed to develop a significant investment project in the semiconductor area in Portugal by 2024.
Portugal has been positioning itself to attract semiconductor production, with a view to strengthening the country's strategic autonomy and that of the European Union.
