Portugal is preparing to receive more highly advanced Nvidia processors specialized in artificial intelligence (AI). British company Nscale has announced that it will install more than 66,000 Nvidia Rubin GPUs at the Start Campus data center in Sines starting in late 2027.

The Start Campus data center in Sines will receive more than 66,000 Nvidia artificial intelligence chips as part of the strengthened partnership between Nscale and Microsoft. This investment positions Portugal as one of Europe’s leading hubs for AI infrastructure.

According to the report published by ECO, the new Nvidia Rubin processors will be installed from 2027 onwards in the second building of the campus, joining the more than 12,000 chips previously announced. The project also includes an additional investment worth hundreds of millions of euros in technological and energy infrastructure.

This expansion strengthens the strategic role of Sines in the development of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence in Europe, helping attract international technology investment and reinforcing Portugal’s position within the global AI ecosystem.
