Eureka Globalstars is an international funding programme aimed primarily at innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) wishing to collaborate on Research and Development (R&D) projects involving countries in the Eureka Network and countries outside it, such as Brazil, India, Japan and Taiwan.
Projects applying for Globalstars must materialise as a form of international collaboration, aim to research and develop an innovative product, service or process with a view to its commercialisation, include at least two legally independent entities from one Eureka Network country (such as Portugal) and another outside the network, with no one country or organisation accounting for more than 70% of the total investment.
Like other projects within the Eureka Network, they are funded by the states involved after a centralised evaluation. In the case of Portugal, projects approved under Globalstars can be funded through the Research and Development Incentive System in the form of R&D Internationalisation.
