A new industrial revolution is underway that represents a historic opportunity. We must respond to the urgent and unavoidable need for the country and its companies to have human resources trained to respond to this new revolution. Automation has become a central and unavoidable area of activity on the world industrial scene. The Industrial Automation Specialisation Course (CEAI) advocates training in the context of industrial systems and processes and is based on the principle of updating the knowledge of industry professionals or retraining other professionals who wish to work in the field of industrial automation.
CEAI aims to provide basic training, with a strong experimental character, in the fundamental areas of factory floor automation (actuation technologies, monitoring and control technologies, robotics, industrial communication networks) and in more advanced areas such as industrial computing and vision and perception systems.

The CEAI curricular units have a theoretical component, where concepts and exercises are presented, and practical classes where trainees carry out laboratory work in fundamental areas of automation such as actuation, monitoring, command and control technologies; industrial communication networks; robotics and industrial informatics, as well as concepts related to industry 4.0 (internet of things, digitalisation or digital manufacturing).

Graduate Specialisation Programme in Quantum Computing
1 semester
Aveiro
10

Quantum computing emerged in the 1980s with new paradigms for computing and transmitting information transmission, both with the potential to revolutionize the most diverse areas of society. Currently, with the imminent realization of innovative quantum technologies on a large scale, there is a massive interest on the part of several organizations worldwide, in particular the multinationals in the area of ??information technology, to invest heavily in the preparation of specialized staff, able to deal with the new methods and techniques present in these technologies.

In view of its interdisciplinary character, the specialization programme in Quantum Computing aims to open new horizons of work, preparing the student for activities involving quantum information, problems of information coding and cryptography as well as the specification and logical verification of systems. It will also provide a starting point for students who want to start or continue their training and research path (e.g. in master's and doctoral projects) in a rapidly expanding research area.

Graduate Specialisation Programme in Optical Technologies
1 semester
Aveiro

The specialization course falls upon the different areas of Optics, with potential interest to different types of companies. It aims to promote the interaction between the university and industry, through training, completing the education offer of the University of Aveiro, with special focus on the areas related with Engineering physics, biomedical, mechanics, chemistry, and electronics, in topics such as optoelectronics, applied optics, materials science, sensors, communications, among others.

The general objective is related to the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge that streamline activities related to optical technologies, research, development or application.

At the end of this course, the student should have knowledge of fundamental concepts of optics, devices, optical and optoelectronic systems, as well as their integration, allowing the achievement of a core of competences, especially in the operational understanding of optical devices, systems and experimental techniques.
